Are HYSA's still worth it?

Hey Reader!

This week's money lesson is all about the High Yield Savings Account or HYSA for short.

A high yield savings account is a savings account that offers higher yields for your hard-earned money. Traditional and regular savings accounts normally offer .01% while high yield savings accounts offer 3.5% - 5% in interest.

Here's what that looks like if you have $1,000 in your bank.

Is it worth moving your money to a high yield savings account? I say yes because the bigger the balance, the more you benefit from the higher APY. It's not too late to move your money and have it earn more money.

Watch this week's video to learn:

  • More about high yield savings accounts
  • How the interest earned gets taxed
  • What you need to look for when it comes to a new account
  • Why HYSA's may not have high APYs for much longer (hint: The Fed)

There are so many options when it comes to finding a good HYSA, but DO NOT get paralyzed with indecision. Find one that works for you: no minimum balances, no fees, FIDC insured, and read the terms and conditions.

I've personally used CapitalOne and Ally. Ally has a $100 Welcome Bonus if you are a new customer and complete all of the requirements. Learn more here and read the T&Cs.
